Next to the Singapore Sports School, the Champions Green BTO, fittingly named, was recently completed. Conveniently located near Woodlands South MRT, Champions Green was part of the May 2019 launch, also encompassing two Tengah BTOs and one Kallang/Whampoa BTO. Now, it sits about a 7-min walk away from this BTO. It's not sheltered all the way to the BTO, and you’ll have to cross a couple of traffic lights, but the walk doesn’t feel overly taxing.There are a couple of bus stops along Champions Way, the road that borders part of the site, but it currently only services the feeder bus 900. That bus service only takes you around Woodlands and ends at the Woodlands Interchange, where the Woodlands MRT interchange also is. You’ll be better off taking the MRT down to Woodlands station though, since it’s only one MRT stop away.&nbsp;<figure class="image"><img style="aspect-ratio:1200/675;" src="https://d213h1b7vxzzl3.cloudfront.net/editor/691c31a6-33b5-4ae0-a6ca-ea94d8c8ef6b-blob" width="1200" height="675"></figure>One of the bus stops along Champions Way.&nbsp;&nbsp;Based on HDB’s site map, there may be an upcoming bus stop along Woodlands Drive 17. It wasn’t yet built when I visited the site recently however.&nbsp;<figure class="image"><img style="aspect-ratio:1200/675;" src="https://d213h1b7vxzzl3.cloudfront.net/editor/e11dc830-5c70-45d1-92e3-d4e85aa6858d-blob" width="1200" height="675"></figure>A potential bus stop along Woodlands Drive 17?&nbsp;&nbsp;<h3>What’s around Champions Green</h3>&nbsp;The surrounding area is very much a residential one, with primarily public housing (other Champions here like Champions Court, Champions Bliss) with one upcoming condominium project (Norwood Grand by CDL) across the road from it. There are also a significant number of schools in the area. Flanking the site alone, you have the Singapore Sports School and Innova Primary School. By 2025, Yishun-Innova Junior College will be located in the north-west area of the site.&nbsp;<figure class="image"><img style="aspect-ratio:1200/675;" src="https://d213h1b7vxzzl3.cloudfront.net/editor/318a1348-a75c-4cf1-9bac-08408d9f3ca6-blob" width="1200" height="675"></figure>Singapore Sports School.&nbsp;A lot of construction works are still ongoing so expect noise and dust even after you’ve moved in. Perhaps because of this, foot and vehicular traffic aren’t very busy in this area.&nbsp;Each block’s only 10-storey tall, likely because of the Sembawang Airbase nearby. I did see a couple of aircraft flying overhead near the Woodlands South MRT, but I didn’t really hear them when I was touring the site.&nbsp;&nbsp;<figure class="image"><img style="aspect-ratio:1200/675;" src="https://d213h1b7vxzzl3.cloudfront.net/editor/e3796524-58fd-40a4-9193-7fab6b17dd75-blob" width="1200" height="675"></figure>Blocks aren't very tall at Champions Green.&nbsp;&nbsp;There’s an eating house, shops and a minimart within Champions Green itself for your day-to-day needs. They were still closed off to the public access when I visited the BTO, so I couldn’t take a look at them. For now, the nearest supermarket (Fairprice) is located at Champions Court (Blk 570B), about an 8-min walk from the BTO.&nbsp;<figure class="image"><img style="aspect-ratio:1200/675;" src="https://d213h1b7vxzzl3.cloudfront.net/editor/3716d12d-3ac3-43eb-832c-c2a209016e94-blob" width="1200" height="675"></figure>The nearest supermarket is located at Champions Court.&nbsp;Alternatively, you can get your groceries at the neighbourhood centre, Vista Point. It was easy to navigate around though since it follows a simple loop, with the on-site facilities mainly sitting in the middle and surrounded by the various blocks. Because of this, there are also a lot of inward-looking stacks here.What I found particularly awesome about Champions Green is how wide the common walkways are. And they are a lot of ramps by the access points, making it a really wheelchair-friendly, pram-friendly development. Drop-off points are also spacious and conspicuous, with the one nearest to the on-site childcare centre feeling particularly grand.&nbsp;&nbsp;<figure class="image"><img style="aspect-ratio:600/1200;" src="https://d213h1b7vxzzl3.cloudfront.net/editor/9a37da7e-a9bc-480e-bb16-8386e30a2a39-blob" width="600" height="1200"></figure><figure class="image"><img style="aspect-ratio:600/1200;" src="https://d213h1b7vxzzl3.cloudfront.net/editor/5e26862f-5cfc-4248-95c8-1a1a1f99829f-blob" width="600" height="1200"></figure>&nbsp;Landscaping and common spaces: It follows a woodland theme, with nature-inspired hues of greens and browns. There were references to trees in the design and a ton of landscaping done on the ground floor, adding to the whole woodland vibe.The void decks were also particularly well furnished. Lots of communal seating areas, with a couple of private nooks for quiet contemplation. Playgrounds weren’t opened yet, but they did look quite modern from what I could see and feature a sports theme.&nbsp;&nbsp;<figure class="image"><img style="aspect-ratio:600/1200;" src="https://d213h1b7vxzzl3.cloudfront.net/editor/34da224c-86f9-4238-ae82-0a7a666a7ffb-blob" width="600" height="1200"></figure><figure class="image"><img style="aspect-ratio:600/1200;" src="https://d213h1b7vxzzl3.cloudfront.net/editor/16f91937-8f4a-4d02-ae64-0a78dc690bcd-blob" width="600" height="1200"></figure>&nbsp;Rubbish collection and carpark: You’ll notice that there are roads that lead to each of the blocks, where the centralised rubbish chutes are located. Since Champions Green doesn’t have the newer PWCS (Pneumatic Waste Conveyance System) system for refuse collection, there will be rubbish trucks going from block to block to manually collect them. Unfortunately, some stacks are directly overlooking those areas.There’s a single multi-storey carpark within the project. It’s well-ventilated and comes with wide spacious lots with a rooftop garden. It’s also connected directly to two of the six blocks in Champions Green. What stands out is that each carpark level is connected to the corresponding residential level in this BTO. Unlike other BTOs developments where only one carpark level is connected to the residences, here, it’s super convenient for drivers at these two blocks as each carpark level is linked directly to a residential level.&nbsp;I found the proximity of the carpark to some of the neighbouring stacks a tad too close however. Some of the stacks had their kitchen/service yard areas directly overlooking someone else’s front door. There were privacy dividers in place, but it still feels a twinge too close for comfort.The lift lobbies take after the BTO's woodland theme and are clad in warm woodgrain laminates. Block numbers are clearly marked at the ground level lift lobbies so you really won't get lost.&nbsp;The corridors to the units are rather loopy and long, so if your unit sits at the end of a walkway, it will take a while for you to get there from the lift lobby.
